About Joyce N'Sana

Joyce N’sana is the embodiment of Afrobluehop, a bold blend of Afro-blues, hip hop, rock-soul, and occasionally reggae rhythms. Her small stature belies the power of her voice, which carries a message of peace shaped by a youth spent in Congo amid war. Praised for her “incredible intensity” (Éric Barette, Radio-Canada) and “survivor’s fervor” (Stéphane Laporte, La Voix), her EP OBOSSO (2021) has been hailed as “top-notch” (Jean-François Côté, Radio-Canada), captivating audiences with authenticity and dynamism.

Starting in 2016 with an EP awarded “World Music Album of the Year” by CJLO Radio, Joyce also shone on the “La Voix” stage in 2018 before winning the Montreal finale of the Landmark Events Showcase in 2019. Recognized as a Radio-Canada Revelation for 2021-2022 and nominated at the Gala Dynastie, she returns in 2024 with TÉLAMA, an album meaning “rise” in Kikongo, mixing Kongo rhythms, blues, and hip hop in French, English, Kikongo, and Lingala. This work pays tribute to Sony Labou Tansi and Sara Tavares, reflecting some of Joyce N’sana’s profound influences.
